Victim Support NI Welcome End to Criminal Barristers’ Strike
Victim Support NI welcome the news that the Criminal Bar Association are to return to covering legally aided Crown Court cases having reached a resolution in relation to their dispute.
This news will be particularly welcome for victims/witnesses, who, over the past six months, have faced significant uncertainty about when – or indeed if their case would progress through courts. Those supported by Victim Support NI have told us that these delays have caused considerable distress and, in some instances, additional trauma.
We are hopeful that measures can now be put in place to allow cases to proceed in an expeditious manner.
Victim Support NI would encourage any victim or witness in need of support to contact us in confidence. Our services remain available to provide practical and emotional support throughout their criminal justice journey.
A list of all our services can be found on our website: Victim Support NI | Supporting People Affected By Crime.
