Support after court
Once a trial is over, and a verdict and sentence have been passed, Victim Support NI can still be a source of support.
If your case has taken some time to reach court, your focus will have been on the case in the run-up to, and during the trial. Once it is over, you may experience a feeling of exhaustion, deflation, or loss. Even if you are happy with the court’s decision, and feel that justice has been served, you may still experience these feelings and wish to speak to someone about it. Victim Support NI understands that you are still dealing with the impact of the crime.
If you are unhappy with the verdict or the sentence, and do not feel that justice has been done, you can contact us for further emotional support. You can do this through contacting our Hubs in Belfast on 028 9024 3133 or Foyle on 028 7137 0086, or by speaking to a representative from our Witness Service at your court, who can make a referral on your behalf.
In some cases, if you feel that you were not represented well by the PPS, you can make a complaint or ask for a review. We can help you to do this.
