Victim Information Schemes
If an offender is sentenced for 6 months or more, confined to hospital, or is under Probation Board supervision, the Victim and Witness Care Unit will send you details of the relevant post-conviction information scheme.
The Victim Information Unit is managed by the Probation Board for NI and covers three schemes:
- the prisoner release victim information scheme (PRVIS)
- the Probation Board for NI Victim Information Scheme
- the Mentally Disordered Offender’s Victim Information Scheme
You can make use of these schemes if you are an actual victim of the offence and aged 18 or over, or a bereaved family member; a family member or legal guardian of a victim aged under 18; or a family member or legal guardian of a victim whose physical or mental state is such that it would be reasonable for you to receive the information.
You can register for these schemes via post or online at www.pbni.org.uk
More information about the Victim Information Schemes can be found at www.nidirect.gov.uk
You must register with the Victim Information Unit to receive information about the release or supervision of an offender.
